Welcome to Troop 72

San Bruno’s Troop 72 received its first charter from the Boy Scout of America in May 1917. We are one of the longest running Scout units in the Bay Area and have been in continuous service since 1922. The South San Francisco Elks Lodge has been our chartering organization since the 1960’s. We regularly provide service work in support of their efforts in the community.

We meet Thursday evenings, year-round at 7:00 P.M. Meetings last 90 minutes. During the school year we meet at John Muir School and during the summer months we meet at San Bruno City Park.

High Adventure

Troop 72 places an emphasis on high adventure. We plan at least one weekend outdoor activity a month. Most months, those events include opportunities to camp outdoors.

During the summer, we feature our weeklong high adventure trip. Recent treks included backpacking in the Sierras and a bike trek in the Humboldt Redwoods. This trip is always popular and is more rewarding than can be imagined.

Our Troop also spends one week each year at summer camp. We have attended Wente for the past several years.

Follow the "About Us" link to the left to learn more about us.  If you are interested in joining the Troop, attending a Troop meeting or have questions about Scouting or our group, you can reach us throught the "Contact Us" link on the left side of this page.

The scouts of Troop 72 started their summers off with a bang this year with a week of swimming, boating, shooting, horseback riding, and more at the Wente Scout Reservation. The Spartan, Biohazard, Zombie Hunter, Ninja Squirrel patrols had a great time enjoying all Wente has to offer, as well as working on their trail to become Eagle Scouts. What a week!

282 Hours of Community Service in Three Months!

Posted on Jun 8 2016 - 3:13pm

GREAT JOB to the 36 Scouts who participated in one or more of the community service projects the Troop undertook in the last three months. Those who participated contributed an average of almost 8 hours per Scout to the community. A special thanks to Jacob, Ethan and Carson who worked over 16 hours each on those projects!

Camporee 2016

Posted on Apr 21 2016 - 9:30pm

Troop 72 had a wonderful time at the 2016 Pacific Skyline Council Camporee. Scouts of the  Biohazard, Zombie Hunter, Spartan, and Ninja Squirrel patrols competed for first place in all sorts of events, ranging from canoe and harpooning to rifle shooting. The Spartan Patrol carried home 5 ribbons, along with claiming Third Place in the Discovery District. The Ninja Squirrels brought home more ribbons than could be counted, and won first in Discovery District, as well as first place overall. Congratulations!
